Calypso’s offer is very interesting to Ulysses. Imagine…never getting older, never getting sick or hurt, never dying. But also…watching loved ones age, suffer and die.
Would you want to be immortal?
What are the advantages, disadvantages and just interesting things about being immortal?
Explain.
Being immortal would be pretty awesome. You would never have to worry about dying, and nobody wants to die. But personally I would rather stay mortal since there are many disadvantages of being immortal like watching your loved ones die, getting bored of life (eventually) and if you do want to die you won't be able to.
ReplyDeleteThere are some pretty cool advantages about being immortal as well: First of all you never die, you can see the world change and see how the human race evolves, you won't need to pay for things like food and shelter because you never die and you have all the time to yourself to do pretty much anything.
I agree immortality doesn't sound worth it. You would see everyone that you love die. GREAT BLOG!!!!!!!!!

i disagree, youll never die and you can find someone new.
Deletegood blog
Hey that’s so true, being immortal means you will see your family die and suffer… Great blog!!
DeleteI wouldn't want to be immortal because everyone eventually has to die and if you meet someone you really like (if you are immortal and they are mortal) you would have to watch them get old, see them suffer through hard times and then eventually just die. An advantage of being immortal is that you never die. It is an advantage because you wouldn't have the fear of you dying. A disadvantage of being immortal is that if all you loved ones are mortal you will have to see them die because you will never die. Everyone doesn't want to lose their loved ones. Immortality is very interesting because everyone once wished that they were immortal but they know that they will never be immortal.

I would love to be immortal too but I'd hate to see everyone die. Great blog! :)
DeleteIt would be really hard watching someone die.
DeleteGreat Blog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Being imortal would be the best thing ever. You can do whatever you want and you wont get sick or injured. I know that once in a while a family member or someone close to you is gonna pass but, thats normal in life. Now a days, so many people have to watch ther family suffer in pain. Its the cycle of life. I would really want to be immortal.
ReplyDeleteI agree being immortal would be fun
DeleteNice blog!!
I agree it is normal in life for humans to pass, but did you even take into consideration that you would have to live forever without your family?
DeleteGreat blog!

i agree
Deleteway to go sean
Being immortal sounds pretty cool but I wouldn't want to be immortal forever. An advantage is that you live forever and never die.A disadvantage is that if you marry someone that is not immortal you have to see them go through tough times and also see them pass on. You would live forever and they would die. I don't think it's worth it. There's another advantage of being immortal. It is if you also marry someone immortal you will live forever and could have a lot of fun. I would want to try to be immortal but not for my whole life.

You're totally right. Who would want to be immortal forever?
DeleteGreat Blog!
Being immortal sounds awesome but I would't want to be immortal forever. The advantage is that you will never die and literally live forever but the inconvenience is that you will have to see others suffer and then unfortunately die. I don't think its worth the pain of seeing others go through pain when it will never happen to you.

Being immortal would actually be quite cool. You would be able to do whatever you want and be satisfied that you won’t die doing it. It would also be pretty cool knowingly that you’ll never get older, you can basically stay the same age forever. Although, there would obviously be consequences like seeing your loved ones pass away, suffer with an illness and watching them get old. The only thing is that, I wouldn’t want to really stay immortal forever because you’re constantly seeing your loved ones pass away and suffer. Isn’t that enough suffering for a person to constantly see people you love die?
ReplyDeleteI agree completely! That is definetly the worse consequence, I would never ever want to go through that. Good blog.
DeleteWhile it might be pretty amazing to be immortal and live forever, this would not be an option I would choose when I start thinking about the advantages vs. the disadvantages.
ReplyDeleteSome advantages to being immortal would be that one would be able to see evolution over time. For instance, it would be really interesting to see just how far technology of our phones, cars, televisions, etc. will go. It would also be great never to get sick or old, and have the opportunity to have more time to go shopping, exercising, seeing different places in the world, etc.
Some disadvantages of being immortal would definitely be in watching my family members die, especially if my children weren’t immortal. I couldn’t bear to watch them suffer and be in pain. Also, in the mortal world, there are many different phases to our lives. If one were immortal, there would never be the opportunity to experience these different phases, and I guess life would eventually become boring.
I would choose to be mortal, but do hope I get to live a good, long life with minimal pain and suffering.
I think that it would be very interesting to be an immortal. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to live forever. I would get to see the world upgrading for all eternity. I would have time to live in all the countries in the world. I could learn thousands of languages. I’d get to meet so many different people and eat so many different foods. I might even get to see some of my friends and family members becoming well known and famous. But I would also have to see the people I love and care about die and I couldn’t stand to see anyone that I love suffer and die. I’m not so sure if I would chose to be immortal. It’s a win-lose situation. I would only chose immortality if all of the people I love were also immortal. I want to live forever with my family.
ReplyDeleteI would not want to be immortal. I would not want to be immortal because I would not be able to bare watching my family/loved ones die/suffer/grow old when I am not. A disadvantage to being immortal is you will have to watch loves ones die. An advantage to being immortal is that you will not have to worry about dying, growing old or suffering. Another advantage to being immortal would be that you would get to see the world evolve, like the new technology and new jobs there will be. Another disadvantage would be when your loved ones die you will NEVER be able to see them again because you are immortal, which is living forever on earth or even on other planets, but that still won't get you any closer to seeing your loved ones again! Some interesting things about immortality would be that there is pretty much no way out of it, you are going to live for eternity and never grow old.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to be immortal either! I would hate watching my family and friends die as well.
DeleteThank you for understanding my point of view! but it would be cool to check out future technology and stuff like that though.
DeleteBeing immortal sounds great, but I think that it's easier said then done. There are advantages like being able to witness the world's revolution, or to never ever have to worry about being harmed, but I personally think that being immortal would suck. I would have to watch all the people I love die, and I would probably get extremely lonely. If I was immortal, I would want everyone around me to be immortal too. This way, people can live old together.
ReplyDeleteI disagree because being immortal doesn't mean you can't die, but it means you can't die from disease so I would personally enjoy being immortal.
DeleteIt sounds like a good thing, but it means you would eventually need to die. There's no way you could survive a tsunami, meteor or whatever else our world could through at us, but you could never catch a disease and never die (accept for meteor impacts).Personally I would like to be immortal, it would be cool seing the world change around me.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be immortal, only if all my friends and family were immortal too. I would love to be immortal because I would be able to see the future and get to see everything that happens in the world. It would be kind of boring to be immortal with no one. If I had my family we'd be making lasagna every day, since I'm italian
ReplyDeleteImmortality would be so much better with friends and family with you. Great blog!
DeleteBeing immortal would be cool, but not really. You would probably never get sick. You would get to see everything around you change. You would get to experience new technology and new things. Now that you are immortal you won’t have to worry about death. You would have one thing less to worry about. You would be happy and stress free,if you didn't really care about your friends and family dying. So the disadvantage would be everyone you care about would die. I wouldn't want to be immortal because then you see the world end and that is probably not enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't take that old Circe rip-off's offer to be immortal, because personally, I wouldn't want to see all my friends and family grow old and die while I stayed perfectly fine. I just wouldn't feel right. One obvious advantage about being immortal is that you live forever, you will never feel pain or get sick or die. But one disadvantage is still, the fact that you live forever, you watch everyone you knew pass away and you will be left alone it really is tragic. But the real disadvantage of being immortal, is the emotional pain, you will meet everyone in your family and the future generations of your family... only to see them wither away. All friends you knew will eventually leave and there is nothing you can do about it. One would eventually just get sick of being immortal... but you can't go back. once it's done it is done you can't go from immortal to mortal just because you changed your mind. You need to meet new people, become friends with them, maybe even get married, only to be forced to watch them die and then you have to start again. There will be no release from this torture just a vicious cycle of happiness and death. And that is why I would never want to be immortal ( I never typed this much omg)
ReplyDeleteI agree seeing family die is terrible and making new friends is really hard when you are immortal. great blog!
DeleteYes I agree I would not take Calypso's offer. Good blog!
DeleteI would love to be immortal. I think it would be an opportunity of having a life that you wouldn’t die or age from. Also you can learn way easier and won’t ever be injured. The only thing that would hurt me is if I was a immortal would be, is seeing my family, friends and others die. But only if the people that are close to me or going to become close to me are a immortal too then I think life would be great!
ReplyDeleteI understand it would be fun to go through life and be completely free and have no worries, but we would never get to be parents and have a career!! Great blog!!
DeleteI would not want to be immortal. Immortality would mean never dying but still seeing other people die, like friends and family which is pretty sad to go through. Every human is meant to go through the circle of life which is, you are born, you live a life and then you die. If you are immortal you would only go through two of the three parts of immortality: being born, and living. Of course it’s sad to die but everyone wonders what the afterlife is like. An advantage of being immortal is: Being able to do way more things in an eternity instead of not completing your bucket list in a somewhat short lifetime. Another advantage is the fact that you’re magic when you are immortal. You could do anything because you’re magic, like: turning into an animal, changing the temperature, predicting the future, etc. A disadvantage about being immortal is: Having to live through what happens in the future, like: natural disasters, wars, people important to you dying, and the worst: the world ending. Another disadvantage is that through the years all your mortal friends and family would die and you would be all alone and have to make new friends. I honestly don’t think that being immortal is the best thing to happen to any human.
ReplyDeleteI would not want to be immortal since I think it is better to cherish the time that you have instead of knowing that you would live forever. I would no want to see all my love ones die and probably at one point in time I would get bored of life. But the ups of being immortal would be that I get to see more and experience more to life. Even though it is tempting I would not accept Calypso's offer.
ReplyDeleteNope Nope Nope. I would not want to be immortal. I would not want this for many reasons. Life would become boring after a while. And all my friends would die and I would still be there and I would have to make new friends, then they would die (unless they were immortal), and the cycle would go on and on forever. So i would tell Calypso to back off thanks for the offer and get my boat and leave a mortal like i got there as.
ReplyDeleteI would not want to be immortal because not only would you have to see loved ones suffer and die but I would never get to grow older and have children and grandchildren, drive or even be able to become a veterinarian. That is if I would become immortal now but still I would miss out on things that come with age. I think that it would be cool to maybe go through life and know I wouldn't get older and not worry about chance of dying, but I still wouldn't. The only age I would consider it would be when I'm reallyyy old!!!
ReplyDeleteno i wouldn't want to be immortal because i don't think its would be right because i wouldn't want to never grow old,i want to be old and give my grand kids amazing stories and when i die a treasure hunt and they could find it and then being immortal i could do anything i wanted like rob bank and stuff and not ge sick and have bronchitis.
ReplyDeleteImmortality. Well Being immortal would be quite interesting as you would be able to live for ever watching new inventions and discoveries appear. However there is a sacrifice you would have to make. As you never age you will inevitably lose your sanity. Why? Well the future is not always bright and maybe a war will start because of one man's greed and wrath. Along with seeing many deaths you also will witness the death of your relatives which is what will mostly bring your spirits down.
ReplyDeleteThere may be some advantages to being immortal, but there are many disadvantages too. One of the good things of being immortal is that, you could live forever and you can't die! The disadvantages are that you may live forever, but your loved ones can't. You would witness your friends' and family's deaths and you may not like the future. Who knows if in the future, there would be a war? or new inventions that might make the future brighter? No one knows. What if the world ends? You have to see it all because you can't die while being immortal. That is why I don't want to be immortal.
