I am asking for some input as to what changes should be made to the St. Thomas library.
Aside from some painting and new furniture, WHAT 21ST CENTURY additions should be made to promote: COLLABORATION, COMMUNICATION, CRITICAL THINKING and CREATIVITY.
Explain your thoughts!
I think that it should have a lot of technology! Including computers, chrome books, etc.. I also think that it should have a bigger appearance with more of that awesome technology and more tables and chairs so that the library fits more people! It currently gets full WAY to fast because a lot of times at lunch when I need to do homework if I go past 11:15 it's full!

I think they should add more computers and get new ones and maybe have iPads as well. They should make the space bigger and have more places to sit. They should get nicer tables and comfier chairs to sit in. Also, they should have more quiet rooms so we can study in silence. I am very excited to see the new changes in the library.

The library at St. Thomas is already fairly well set up. There is a lot of choice in books, and the number of computer stations is pretty good. I also understand that there is a project in place to replace all the computers for newer models. To bring the library up to the standards of the 21st century and allow for collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity, I actually think a few major changes are needed. Firstly, I think it would be good if the library could invest in eReaders. Even better, it would be great if the eReaders could be borrowed. Thinking about our next book in English which we are going to read only electronically, I could see this being really helpful, especially if we miss a day at school, or feel the need to re-read a part of the book. I also would completely redesign the library. So many of our projects are done in teams, and, as students, we really have few choices as to where we can sit, talk together and stay focused on a project. It would be great if there were small rooms set aside for this purpose, which could be reserved. I would also suggest that these rooms be equipped with computers, so that everyone in the team can work on a project together. Finally, I also think something needs to be done about printing. Sometimes, getting only 2 free sheets per day printed is just not enough. There have been multiple times when my printer cartridges have run out of ink at home, the night before a project is due. Then, I end up spending some of my lunch money on printing. Perhaps there needs to be a little more flexibility over how many pages we can print, especially if they are for a school related project.

ReplyDeleteI think that people that want to work after school should have a part where they can call friends to do their work and also tiny place where they can study and not have the tiny space between the computers and a place with bean bag like they had in the coding offices and a tiny tablet places where they can do their work also not pay to use the printer make it free
ReplyDeleteIn our new library there should be more 21st century technology like IPad's and more computers like IMac's. I think that everything should be online. Our teachers are always telling us to recycle and not waste things but were using so much paper. It would be so much better if everything was online because if you forget your homework at school you can just do it online. So you can't really forget your homework. They should also let us go on our phones because at pchs they're allowed to go in the library and watch Netflix and play on their phone, even though they do have a much bigger library. Also instead of having chairs there should be couches or bean bags.

ReplyDeleteThe changes that I think should be made at our library is to have new computers and way more technology. Such as iPads, Chromebooks etc. Another thing they should definitely consider upgrading is the amount of pages we can print. I’m very happy that they’re making the library bigger considering that it’s always full within a short period of time. Since they’re making the library bigger, they should definitely put one or two more quiet rooms.

The things that I think they should add to the St.Thomas library would be: Adding the new chrome books, like the ones in our class, and new quiet rooms with some other features. I think they should add the new chrome books because some kids just like me prefer to use a laptop instead of a desktop computer. I think they should add more quiet rooms because for 1; whenever I get to the library and ask to go in the quiet rooms their always taken, reason #2; If you actually pay attention the "2" quiet rooms are actually one and I think 1 is not enough for a whole high school. The things I would add in the quiet rooms are the following: pencils, sharpeners, pens, highlighter, erasers and dictionaries.
ReplyDeleteI would want audiobooks to be added to the new library. People are using those more and more. It’s more modern. Keep the regular chairs and tables but please add bean bags chairs and a fireplace.It would be so calming. I think that the library should also have more electronic devices. A few more desktop computers, a few more laptops and some Ipads. The good thing about this idea is that everyone would be able to get their work done. Sometimes, all of the computers are taken and I can’t get any work done so if we had more computers, no one would complain. Hopefully, everyone will use the computers to read and to do homework and not play any games. The librarian would have to keep an eye on us at all times!

DeleteI think that it's a great idea to renovate the school library! Adding new computers, some new books and furniture is definitely a good idea, since there is a lot of people who go to the library every single day. An addition I thought could be really cool for the library is a screening room, inside the quiet room. This way people can practice for presentations on a smart board and it would make studying in a group much easier for everyone! Plus, the quiet room is sound proof so that you have no disruptions!

DeleteI think that the new renovations to the library should be filled with technology. There should be new computers that work well since students will always need to use the computers at the library. There should also be a private room with a Smartboard in it so that a group of people working on a project could envision their ideas better. Instead of the library being cluttered with tables, chairs, and bookshelves, the library should be an open clear space. Bookshelves, tables and chairs should be on the sides because it's easier to think in a clean space. For all the people that like to get into a good book there should be reading nooks. Circles made into the wall with a cushion bottom so students could be comfortable while reading. There should also be new Chromebooks around the library. When we got to use the new Chromebooks in class last week I found they were more interactive than the old ones. They would be a nice addition to the library, especially since they're touchscreen. Lastly, instead of having regular tables in the library why not having booths! Booths would be a good idea since they help students interact better and they are more inviting to do homework at the library.

DeleteI think that the school should make the library way bigger. At around 11:15 - 11:20 the library is already full. They should make the library a place where you want to go do homework and relax. They should add more tables so you could work in groups and maybe they should put more quiet rooms. They should also add comfortable chairs, To make this a 21st century library the school should invest in E-Readers. But those could be expensive so they should buy more books because most of there books are pretty old. Another thing the school should do is buy better computers, there computers are getting old.

DeleteThe only time i would be spending my time at the libary is if they have these really comfortable couches to just chill and relax or if theu have a certain section just for games, that would be pretty cool because if im at school and have a little free time and can go to the library with a couple of friends and play, BUT IF THEY HAD A TV, YOU WOULDNT GET ME OUTTA THERE, i would binge watch every episode they play

Also the chairs are really uncomfortable and they must be changed. And I'm guessing that's pretty much it.

Anyways, I just think all the technology in the library should be updated.

DeletePersonally I think that the library is perfectly fine the way it is, and there really isn't that much that needs to be changed. But if I had to say something I would say that adding more room for people to do work and maybe areas to read/study but I think that whatever they decide to do it will be amazing. If they wanted to introduce more 21st century attributes to the library they could get better computers or add things like online books but honestly the library is fine as it is in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI think that libraries are great for any students, but not all want to go. The library should include some 21st-century cool furniture and cool electronics. If the library had a better 21st-century look, more and more people would come. It would be somewhere to do homework and also somewhere to sit and talk. Also if they would do this they would also have to expand the library into a bigger one. After all, I think that the library should be remodeled and updated to make the library stand out more in the school.
ReplyDeleteI think that lots of things could be improved or added to our librairy even though it is already very well done. For example we could have a room or a corner of the librairy to put couches or bean bags for kids to be able to read while being comfortable. We could also bring in some iPads with books on it for us to be able to read on iPads. We could also expand the librairy and put more tables.
ReplyDeleteI think they should get new computers that have touch screen and that are a lot faster than the ones they have now. There should also be iPad so if the computers are all full then we could use the iPad's instead. One thing that they should really change is the amount of papers we can print. I think that we should be allowed up to 4 papers because 2 of them is just not enough. They could also switch up the books because some of them are really boring. The last thing that I think could help everyone is to having phone chargers in there because sometimes I forget to charge my phone at night and after school I do extra activities and when I need to call my parents or my brother I can't because my phone is dead. I think that the chargers would be really useful to a lot of us.

I think the school should lend out Kindles/ Kobo's for like 10 dollars a week, with multiple books on it, so students can take out less books but read more, so you don't need to take out multiple books. Plus books tend to be cheaper on online copies so that it cost less in the end, plus the new Chromebooks we have in class could be a nice addition to replace the old laptops we have in the library.

They should also add more tables so that the library won't be full so often and that the people who actually need to work, can. They should change all of the chairs to couches or armchairs like the ones they have now because we'd be more relaxed and comfortable while doing our homework. They should also expand their book collection and get more of the newer books so that students have access to the books they want to read instead of trying to find the book you want somewhere else. Lastly, the library should have more of those separate rooms so we can all do our work quietly.

DeleteI do not really go to the library that much now a days unless I really need to do homework or a project but one thing I noticed is the mouses and the computers. Neither of them function consistently. Some mouses do not work without a mouse pad and the computers load slowly or their keyboards do not respond. Books... I need to actually read some for my french class and I do not find to many interesting(then again I do not find most books interesting at all) and if I find a good series their normally one of the books taken out, so maybe have some extras of what seems popular.

DeleteMore books. There is no such thing as too many books. More computers, maybe even laptops could be a contribution to the library. They school could also supply earphones/headphones for the computers. Couches would be comfortable for us to sit and read on. We could re-design it to have a geometrical design and make it look modern and inviting. Decorate it a bit. People need a nice comfortable environment for optimal work. For example, My room looks and feels comfortable and is now the best place for me to do work, especially compared to my office. We could make it colourful and cultural. Put an actual sound proof thing in the quiet rooms. I'm imagining it all as I write. Maybe gray and yellow. We need an overall calming environment. Get rid of the vomit greens. We could put tables/desks with charging stations. Did I mention new colours? Overall make the library a calming, 21st century chill vibe instead of the "I was last redone in 1940 look."

I think that they should make the library bigger. I believe that they should make it bigger because usually there are kids who need to study who can't because the library is full. I also think that they should add some more tables and places to study where it is quiet. Also thy should include iPad's, tablets, newer computers, etc. They should also add some newer more modern books that the students might actually want to read. While I'm talking about books, I believe that they should invest some money into getting some more French books. They should get some more French books because when I need to get a french book for my French class there are no books that look interesting to me or I've already read the ones there. They should also add a computer or a chrome book or something in the quiet rooms because you can't do your research if you don't have or didn't bring your phone.

I think that they should add chome books to use on the tables if needed. I think that it will help a lot because tecknologie is very important in this time of age and tha with all these new tools that teachers use for example classroom. I always see all the computers being used and I can never get to use them when I need them.I also think that they could add a few more recent books and new better tables I think that they sould use wood shelving instead of metal. I think that these additions would realy help.
