  1. I found it pretty amusing and fun but the part where the case was jammed and we had to wait and it was kinda not fair when isabella and mane came and later on bella and vanessa came (witch i find unfair) and they did beat us but you said later on it was us who won the BREAKOUT session

  2. I think it was a very creative and fun test, I’ve probably never liked a test this much before. I would love to do that again. The only part that we got stuck on was with the flashlight because we could not find the arrows. I helped my team by suggesting that Dally was one of the answers for one of the clues. I think the breakouts are very educational because since we enjoyed it more, we will learn more as well.

  3. I find the breakout test was relly fun and i would love to do another one, the things that went well were that we that we made good timming even tho we had a lot of malfunctions, the bad thing was that our box noor our locks would really open, we always had to do it multiple times or litterely break it open. I find that in order to do this test, you really had to know the knowledge of the book, you can learn a lot threw this test. I liked the idea of the invisible ink and the flashlight, Good Job Mr Katz, it was really fun.

  4. I loved the Outsiders breakout test but I'm not surprised that I am because I always love our breakout tests! I find that I helped my team when when it came to the codes because me and a couple other girls were going though the book and trying to find possible codes! I think everything went pretty well with our team, except when Bella and Mane went out then we had to send Bella and Vanessa out I think that we sent too many people out!

  5. I really enjoyed The Outsiders breakout session. It was much easier than the breakout test we did after having read Ulysses. I thought our teams (both girls and boys) worked really well together. Getting the first lock opened was very easy because the answer to the question was obvious. To open the remaining three locks also went well, but teamwork and collaboration were really essential. In the team of girls with whom I worked, communication was important, as was keeping calm and focused. The biggest difficulty with the challenge was actually figuring out how to open the box. I helped my team by helping to solve one of the clues. I do think that there is a place for breakout activities in education, as we all learned the importance of teamwork and communication.

  6. I personally really enjoyed the Breakout test because it's so different than any other test we would do. I think that no other teacher would do this kind of activity. During the test I was the one that went to the office to say the prom to Ms. Glenn (I just realized she has the same name as u AHAHAHAHAH). I think that we should have one more breakout test this year:)

  7. I really liked the breakout test! I liked it for two reasons, 1: it’s a stress-free activity and 2: it’s a lot fun. I loved how there were a ton of clues to look for. It was like a mystery game. I loved it! Everything was great except for one thing, the box incident. Because of a box that wouldn’t open, we lost about 15 precious minutes and the other team won. But it was okay, we still finished on time. Mr. Katz even said that the boys team would've won if it weren’t for the box problem. I mostly helped my team by looking for clues and by searching for hidden messages. We were only seven guys. The girls team we were playing against had 10 more players than us and we still got the job done. If the box had open, we would have been the ultimate winners. We’re still the champs as far as I’m concerned. I also think it’s a great way to learn and teachers should do more activities like that in school. Yes, please, let’s do more breakout activities, I love it!

  8. The Outsiders breakout session went really well! My team and I, the girls, communicated a lot throughout this mission, and we were able to figure out the combinations pretty quickly due to our amazing collaboration! I don't think that anything went wrong during the breakout test, I even found it easier than the other one since we knew what to do this time around. All this being said, there is definitely a place for breakout missions in our education! It teaches us how to communicate and collaborate with others, which are important skills for students all through high school, and as we get older.

  9. What I think went well with the breakout activity would be that we (the girls) had finished before the boys and that we actually got the final answer to the question. What I thought did not go well was when we needed to take the flashlight and put it on everything, it took us a while to figure it out. I helped my team by giving them the second code/answer to get into the second lock. I also helped my team by going through the book to find some answers and most of all I helped my team by reciting the whole poem Robert Frost had written with only one mistake (1 word). I do think there is a place for breakout activities in education, I think that it definitely helped me understand the book more and maybe the other kids understood it more as well!

  10. The breakout session was so much fun. It was better than doing a normal test. It was actually a test I was looking forward to do. I found that it was easier and more fun than the Ulysses one. I think that everything pretty much went well. The only thing was, we didn't know what to do with the flashlight. Pointed it everywhere until we found the arrows. I tried to help my team in anyway I could, I tried to look clues. Everyone worked together. I think that there is definitely a place for breakout activities in education. By doing breakout sessions you learn hoe to collaborate with others and how to communicate in a group.

  11. My experience with the Breakout test was really good. I love to do these types of tests because they are really fun and educational at the same time. The things that went well were that we finished the test in time and we worked together to complete it. The thing that did not go well was that we could not find the arrows to unlock the purple coloured lock. Eventually we found it. I helped my team by Looking for the objects you had to find at the beginning. I think that there is room for these Breakout tests in education. I believe that because while doing these tests you are having fun and usually when you have fun you remember more things then just writing a test.

  12. I love the breakout session, it was so much fun. It uses teamwork as a group instead of self-intelligence, its group intelligence, so for people who are less bright, its easier. In this test it puts focus on street smarts instead of book smarts, because you need problem solving to solve it such as knowing where to look, how to make an educated guess and much more.

  13. My experience with the breakout test was really fun, I found it to be much more interesting than the first one we did and the fact that it was much shorter was better as well. I found that everyone worked well as a team and we all contributed in one way or another but the things that did go wrong were not our fault *cough* the black box *cough*. Personally I find that, when executed correctly breakout tests can be the best way to teach students but, when poorly made, can be completely and utterly catastrophic.

  14. I think it was great and that we all have an awesome english teacher. I really loved the breakout test because you can tell how much time it took and how much planning it took by seeing how detailed it was. I think it is such a good way to do tests because there is not stress it is fun and it makes a good interactive learning experience for the students. I wish that all of test in St. Thomas was like that. I think that the only little default in the system was that the box that had important objects in it would not open but all in all it was an awesome test.

  15. The Outsiders breakout session went really well for me and my team. I thought it was really fun and it topped the last one. During the breakout what went well was finding all the items at the beginning and keeping the momentum during the session. We also could unlock the number code lock and the word lock pretty easily. What did not go well for us was when it took really long for us to get the key for the lock, and when we couldn’t figure out what the flashlight was for (which made us totally clueless to which directions the purple lock had to go towards). I helped my team out by telling others that the page 101 was probably for one of the locks or the black box. It ended up being for the black box, but it took us a while to get open because we weren’t sliding the piece on the box properly. I also helped my team by saying that the papers with the quotes and the characters have some purpose. The papers ended up having invisible ink on them that said the directions to which way the purple lock had to go. I think that breakouts do have some place in a student’s education. I find it makes the student’s work together in a high pressure situation and it makes the students reflect on everything they learned in that unit.

  17. The breakout test was very fun. It's something right up my alley, it tests knowledge on the book and just general knowledge and team work. Honestly I found working as team a bit hard, but I'm me and I work better alone. I have a way of doing things, I make a plan, but as a team, I can't do that. Personally, it would have been easier for me if i did it alone or in a small group, cause me with that many people, working as a team, doesn't work well, ask any of my friends, me and other people doesn't work. even small groups are difficult for me. I am the kind of person who likes to take control, make a plan, organize, etc and if I had tried to do that during the break out test, the little people who like me even a bit, would hate me And why does the meme say I and we?

  18. This breakout test was okay, although I prefer the first one we did. This breakout test was easier and not as hard. I agree, some of the clues I would have never been able to figure out, but I still wanted it to be harder for us to solve. The good thing about this test was that we got a lollipop at the end. The thing that didn't go so well is that we were a large group of girls compared to the first breakout test where we were 4 people. It's harder to work in a team, especially a big one, because your voice isn't heard and you can't do anything. I didn't help my team at all because I couldn't do anything. I wasn't able to even see the clues or even try to unlock one of the locks. I didn't even talk once until the puzzle was solved. That's why I don't like to work in a big group, so I didn't really enjoy this breakout test as much as the Ulysses one. I wish we could do one individually all against each other instead of groups because I would work way better by myself.

  19. The breakout test was better than the other one we did. The outsider's breakout test was more fun and more creative than the Ulysses one. The Ulysses breakout test was really hard and was really challenging. I helped my team by finding one of the mystery objects. I found the flashlight! I also help the whole team by trying to figure out the code for the black box and the code for the locks. After all, this breakout test was a really good away to work as a team to figure out the clues.

  20. The breakout section was really fun and much better then a hand written test. I found are team worked really well together and we communicated a lot and we all helped un lock the locks. I helped out mostly figuring out the combinations for the locks. I find breakouts tests to really help us work as a team and work together.

  21. The overall the breakout was fine apart from the blackbox that wasted between 15 to 20 minutes because it would not open. We found alot of the items fairly quickly and had swiftly sent some people to the office for the key. I'm not sure if it my comment that the light was probably a black light helped but I was the first open the 4 digit lock on guys side but I didn't want take it off because I guessed it.
